Hi Guys,
I am still waiting for my IVA closure Certificate from Grant Thornton I made my final payment in Oct 2011. When I Emailed them in June 2012 this is what they said
Please be advised all of the claims to your IVA have now been received and agreed.
Therefore, although the closure of your case has made considerable progress we still have further administration to complete and your closure documents
I have just contacted them again to ask what is going on. Has anyone else had this problem where it has taken over 1 year to recieve the closre certificate - I just feel it is more stressfull than going through the IVA it's self

Unfortunately the closure process is very drawn out at present due to a number of factors, in the main the ppi issue appears to be the most visual issue. I am aware that GT took on new business following the purchase of another company so their workloads have somewhat increased and could be some of the issue.

Again, another disgusting length of time taken to close an IVA. Another thread where the lack of communication has been shown to be totally unacceptable. Too many empty excuses of 'taken on another company', 'PPI' 'VAT' etc. Why is the governing bodies not getting involved, do they not care either. Other IVA companies have the same 'issues' and have no problem in closing IVA's in a reasonable time frame.
p.s. Not a dig at you or your reply luluj, it is just that these are not valid reasons, just speculation as you don't work for GT or know why the delays are taking an inexplicably long time.

Even if Grant Thornton have taken on new business I don't understand why, a year after the last payment was made, bpad still doesn't have a certificate of completion.
Bpad, have you contacted Karol who posts on here as Grant Thornton? If you email her and put 'IVA Forum' as the subject header she will look into it for you.
Good luck.

I think twelve months is unacceptable for closure regardless of the company, especially when all creditors have been paid.
We want to move on with our lives and put the IVA behind us and this is just dragging things out.

Good idea by Skippy as Karol does seem to be able to make some headway but even so, it shouldn't have to be this way. I hope you get it through very soon.

Mine took 4 months which i thought was bad enough, but i will say that i was well informed during the process. I guess i was lucky when i was feeling the closual wasn't going anywhere i just emailed and got a prompt reply.
Sometimes thats all it takes just a reply just so we are assured that the process is being following, i think some companies miss the point that good communication could solve half these issues.
It does seem the bigger the iva company the longer the closual takes as they seem to go after everything.

I can assure you this seems to be normal for GT, I have still not received my CC from the same company and waited just as long. I also received the standard reply you did, I have also emailed on several occasions and I suppose because they have given all the usual excuses they must have run out of them as I don't get a reply at all now, Karol has also never replied or given any assistance. GT should have looked after their customers before taking on more, I guess it will be just more disappointed clients in future. Well done if you get a reply, but eventualy they will stop replying as they don't know what else to say to you, so say nothing is becoming the norm.

Karol does need to pick up on this issue, as this case does not seem to be held up by VAT, PPI or anything else, yet it seems a very long time to wait for it to be closed.

I think Karol needs to sort her department out, it fails alot and as I said, when all the usual excuses have been given out they just don't respond at all. I just hope their new customers are aware of how long it takes for them to close an IVA, they may just decide to take their business elsewhere, atleast that will give GT more time to concentrate on the ones that are left.
