Me and my partner are thinking of having a mini holiday in the UK and would like to hire a car. Has anyone had any problems hiring a car in an IVA. Do they do credit checks?

Hey

I've hired 3 cars whilst in my iva and never had a problem. Just watch out for the £250+ deposit they ask you to leave whilst the car is on hire! I used car hire 3000 always seemed to have the best deal.

Enjoy your break away

I've found that some car hire companies will only take a credit card for the deposit and not a debit card. Something you will need to bear in mind - unless you’re already aware of that!

Hi, each company will have their own terms and conditions but I imagine you will have to take evidence of your address etc with you such as a utility bill. Enjoy your break, Sam

The Thomas Cook Cash Passport is Mastercard but you pre load it with cash, so you can use that. Be aware though that when they pre authorise say £250 at the beginning, it can stay in the system for about a week so you dont have that money to spend.

It does work a treat though.(Other cash passports are available!)

Hi! Google car hire without a credit card! There are companies out there but you usually have to pay a full deposit up front but get it back if nothing wrong at the end! Good luck

Hi

I'm in a IVA,I hired a Car in June through Enterprise £200 deposit refunded within 48hrs of return. All I had to take was my Driving licence and Debit Card.
