Absolutely dreading this week The cars in for its annual service and Mot. Within the last week its started making a bizarre sound when starting up the engine, the electronics are all to pot and then we woke up this morning to a big crack in the front windscreen. Luckily the latter is covered on the insurance. But I just feel physically sick. :~(
We just havnt got the money for a huge repair bill. Its 7 year old and was hoping to get us to post iva, but i'm now begining to doubt this. Its started to cost us a good amount. Might have to look at selling and join the Nhs lease scheme.

Aren't cars a burden at times. Mine due in August for MOT and service. Every year it's like IVA review time for me.
Hope you get the car through the service and MOT without a big bill.

I think because of the iva i've got too protective over our money !!

I totally know what mean about being protective over money, I'm the same.
Good idea about the career choices but they'll probably have their own ideas.

As a rule, if its warning lights re 'Engine Running' it shouldn't fail for that. Often can be something as simple as faulty wiring.
Cars are cash munchers though!

lets hope so. It keeps flashing there's various faults with the car. When you press the brakes the headlights flash. And when you've got full lights on the brake lights stay on constantly.

I feel your pain. Mines in for MoT today, yesterday it had new tyres and brakes and there are a number of fault lights which I'm praying arnt anything serious.
bottom line I HATE CARS, every time I look at the car i just see wasted £ signs, I just wish there was a public transport alternative where I live, unfortunately the 1 bus every 2 hours into the local town inst really much use to man nor beast.

Didnt used to be that concerned about MOT's pre IVA but being on such a tight budget does make it a major yearly concern.......especially since both our Fords are 11 years plus.
Just keep fingers crossed they can keep going for another couple of years, otherwise it will be a search of Gumtree for something with 12 months MOT/6 months tax and way under 4 figs.
Just had the wifes car MOT'd a couple of weeks ago and it received an advisory notice for child car seat fitted....was surprised to say the least.
