Hi all,
I'm slowly going insane here! Made F & F settlement for my IVA in October last year and keep getting the ''it takes up to 6 months to complete the case and issue the certificate' line from GT which is driving me mad enough. Finally got a letter from them last week after me pestering them which states I have made all the final payments and that GT are closing the case but this could take 6 months (which i hope isn't a further 6 months!!)
Got a letter from GT a while back offering me the services of Claims Broker to reclaim PPI which i just read and filed as it said Claims Broker would contact me. Then 2 weeks ago I got a harsh letter from GT saying that I hadn't responded to the letter from CB and that I was obliged to as part of my IVA etc., I phoned GT who told me that as my case should effectively be closed I should ignore that letter and i'm not obliged to do anything.
Just got a call from CB saying that I hadn't signed and returned a letter they sent me and i was breaking the terms of my IVA!!!
They are driving me mad, if they had completed all the paperwork i'd have my completion certificate by now. More to the point I have never taken out PPI on any loan or credit card!!
Anyone else experiencing this at all?

I think the PPI issue is going around at the moment. If you've never been missold PPI then you haven't it's simple. Tell them that and ask that they complete your IVA in a timely fashion.

Thanks Lesley, I have done that and GT said ignore letters and they will phone me back re closure but all i get is snotty calls from CB saying i'm not complying with my IVA

ivacustomerservices@uk.gt.com and ensure that "IVA Forum" is all that is entered in the subject line of the email.
She should pick up on this tomorrow.

Hi Chelka,
Cheeky buggars saying you were breaking the terms of your IVA! I would tell Claim Brokers that your IVA is between you and GT and has absolutely nothing to do with them end of. That would have seriously wound me up. GT need to reign them in if you ask me.

A shame to see another firm getting stick about their PPI claims policy. If you have never taken out such insurance please ask GT to get your name taken off their claims company's database - and also ask how long it will take to close your case.

Whilst I appreciate your comment about another company getting stick Melanie can i point out again that I have told GT i have never taken out PPI and they told me they would be noting it on my records and they told me to ignore the letters. Therefore when i then get a call that tells me i'm not complying with the IVA agreement from said company i'm entitled to be slightly disgruntled. From looking through this forum it would appear i'm not the only person having issues with GT's communication at closure stage.

I had two phone calls last week telling me I needed to claim for missold PPI, I told the guy I have never had any PPI and there was nothing to claim, he became quite patronising and more or less told me I didn't know what I was talking about, "they were the experts and they would tell me if I had ever had PPI or not".
I asked him where he got my details from and how did he obtain my mobile number, he knew I was in an IVA and told me the name of his company, I didn't have a pen on me to write it down and I can't for the life of me remember the name (I have got a terrible memory and have to write everything down).
I'm pretty sure they weren't acting on behalf of GT but it's quite worrying that these people can obtain personal contact information, they can get details of an IVA from the Insolvency Register, but how the hell do they get your mobile phone number.
To cut a long story short, I politely told him to go away and I haven't heard from him since.
It's one thing after another all the way through an IVA: the IVA Council and many other companies claiming you have been missold an IVA, completions put on hold for HMRC VAT refunds and now this PPI hurdle.
It makes a bit of a nonsense of '60 months and debt free' when you have to add a considerable number of months on at the end before you are really debt free.

I just had to join to answer this, I am in an iva which got passed to gt last year. They have now sent me a letter saying that I need to claim my ppi payments back, and using a company that they have said I have to use. GT are now hounding me with phone calls to check I have ent paperwork to this company. What I find annoying about this is that I won't see any of the money, and it won't reduce the amount I have to pay back, or reduce the amount of my payments, but I bet GT get a great big nice chunk of it!

Leigh - welcome to the forum
If your in an IVA - regardfless of who claims your are unlikely to be able to keep any of the money.
A few posters on here have use a claim company off their own back,thinking it would lower the debt - the bank has retained the PPI and they became liable for the claims costs.
At the end of the day - the creditors will have an increased divident. You will always owe the full amount of debt + fees till the end of the IVA - its only then anything not paid back is written off.
The creditors are getting an increased divident - however if they were unhappy that PPI claims/fees were unfair to them - they would raise objections

It is clear from some of the recent posts on the forum, that the IPs own regulators ought to issue some form of best practice guide with regard to the treatment of PPI claims.
I have sought Counsel's opinion on behalf of my firm and my clients, and we are presently in the process of finalising our own internal policy based on that advice. Other IPs seem to have differing views as to the extent of the IPs responsibilities to investigate PPI claims, but there should be a consistent approach across the board so people do not get confused.

I phoned GT customer services again today and again was told that I should be getting the closure any time as i'm at the end of my 6 months but the girl couldn't give me any info, all she could do was email the department and ask them to phone me, so, exactly the same as when i phoned over 2 weeks ago and still waiting for 'the' phone call!!!
With regard to CB she said that they shouldn't have spoken to me like that and has said she will be speaking to her manager about it and asking her to document it in her end of day email to CB!
Hopefully that will stop the CB issue, just need a closure certificate now!

guys and girls ive been reading your many posts and does really annoy me that like it was mentioned by someone, that we have had to deal with so much, firstly the vat then the ppi etc etc.... we must have a regulator to define what actually is going on and give clear guidelines on the actions and ways to deal with it. no one as far as i have seen was ever told about the VAT problem until we all started emailing our IPs then only to be told that its all true. reaaly is time to put a stop to all this ppi claims stuff!! do we really want out completion certificates delayed because they is no claer guidelines on this issue. what will they do if you do make a claim... keep you IVA open for another 3months while you wait for the bank to decide.... then if its refused having to wait another 12months for the FSO to investigate it! and if that does come threw and is upheld in your favour, what stops that bank to just take it off a balnce you owed them and doesnt even come off your IVA any way! i could scream!!!!
