The Virgin Credit Card gives you plenty of breathing space, with 0% on balance transfers for 20 months* (2.99% handling fee applies, and transfers must be made in the first 60 days of the account being opened). You also get 0% on new purchases for 3 months (from the date your accounts opened).

Hi

At least you know that you wouldn't be accepted even if you wanted to take the offer up

I'm going to play devil's advocate here - IF they are used properly interest free periods on credit cards can be useful. We put some of the expenses for our wedding on one, and then paid it off monthly. Although ideally we'd have saved the money first it did mean we could plan the wedding sooner.

However, I do think that if you do a balance transfer from one card to another the original card account should be closed. I also think the maximum amount of credit cards one person can hold should be two.

I agree with Skippy, the cards do need to be controlled more, and have a maximum credit limit that is based on a realistic prospect of the individual paying it off not just some random sky high amount!

I agree with skippy here. I used to think I will never have credit again, however I hope that in the future I will be able to have an 'emergency' card for those unexpected expenses that arise.

I shudder when I think of how I used to transfer balances and then go out and spend on the original card - absolute madness!

I think we all did it Kazza, how on earth we ended up with about 15 cards between us I just don't know, totally and utterly stupid
