hi guys, just wondered if anyone had ever changed provider during an IVA? I'm currently with sky but their Broadband is not great and as I work from home a few days a week need something a bit more reliable. I used to have Virgin around 4 years ago then left to move to Sky. I would quite like to move back to virgin now as they have some good deals on but just wondered if I'd fail their credit check now with having the IVA.

I think some posters have managed to change, I'm sure they'll come on and let you know.

Thanks , The broadband is the only thing that let's Sky down, as their TV service and HD etc is great!

Yes - I set up BT Business Broadband for users at work and its painful with BT and they don't get any better a service for being Business customers.
I do like Sky broadband but with working from home more days a week now, its just not very reliable, keeps dropping the wireless connection etc and I can't even use wireless outside the livingroom as the signal is so poor!

That's a shame - I rarely lose my signal and can use it all over the place.
I can't get Virgin here.

We movesd to vigin last year, best ting we ever did! BT refused to fix our naff line coming in so it didnt matter which company we wanted to use they all use the BT as a carrier line!! we were paying for 10gig broadband and was getting 1/3 of 1 gig! BT wanted £180 [:O]
Ive never had any problems with Virgin, we got a Tivo free and never had a problem connecting to internet etc!

Thanks Artemis, I am just concerned I won't pass a credit check now with having the IVA even though I was a Virgin customer for around 6 years before i moved to Sky.

I changed from Talk Talk to Sky today!...I took the TV package too..before I only ever had a freeview box. No problem with the IVA, no phonecal or questions from them. I did it all online, went through Top Cash Back, got £136 cashback with them and £100 M&S vouchers too - so feel that I got a good deal. My switch over for braodband was today, and so far so good..fingers crossed it stays that way!

Sounds a bargain TeetersOnHeels,
I might have a look at that later

Hi Susie I have Sky broadband too and had an absolute nightmare at the beginning. Every week the broadband went down but each time I complained I asked for money back and got it!
Try going through one of the cashback sites as they may have a good deal, as Teeters can confirm [:)]

hiya susie,
how are things with you?
like you i am with sky having moved from virgin some years ago, but also have problems with my broadband not being very reliable and also losing tv signal in bad whether, and am wanting to go back to virgin, but very concerned they will turn me down for if they do indeed credit check.
although realistically i suppose there is nothing to loose.
intersted to hear how others have got on.

OH is thinking of changing to Virgin from Sky to get faster broadband and a better box (record 3 channels at the same time and watch another) but I'm not sure to be honest. I've had so many problems and heard so many bad stories about cable (I used to work for them) that I think I'd rather stick with Sky.

Thanks Teeters, I think I might give it a try online and see what happens! Never thought to try one of the cashback sites but will look at them first!
Hi Kat, I'm good thanks, hope your well

How have you found your first year? I'm still waiting on the outcome of my review
I just need the change, When working from home I end up having to re-connect quite a few times and can be a real pain if I'm in a conference call etc.
I still have the Virgin line coming into the house etc so hopefully won't be too much hassel.

Im good thanks susie, although i'm having some major shoulder surgery this year a lot of tightening of ligaments and some bone grafting too, expected to be off work for at least 6 months. this year has flown by, and although challenging to live within a strict budget, ive done ok, and will continue to budget and save and never use credit for the rest of my life, (well maybe just a car loan in the future) having had my full and final accepted today i am on coud nine.
glad things are going well with you.
