Hi and welcome.

Sorry you have been having so many problems. I know GT (along with other firms) have had trouble with various issues.

I would suggest that you contact Karol from GT via this email:

ivacustomerservices@uk.gt.com and ensure that "IVA Forum" is all that is entered in the subject line of the email

I'm sure she will help get this sorted for you.

I wonder if their system is automatically triggering annual review requests when a case is still open ie no completion certificate issued? At the end of the day they don't need to review you as you have stopped making monthly payments months ago. They are no longer entitled to any of your monthly income therefore do not need to see your wageslips.

Again another person waiting months and still no certificate and no communication advising what is going on.....disgusting! This is really starting to wind me up. I will wait until June/July for mine then I will definately be on the warpath.

It possibly is.

I would certainly query things.

Hi, I am also awaiting to receive my completion certificate from GT and received an I/E form yesterday (11 months after final payment) but after calling them they assured me that it was an automatic trigger on their system because my case is still open and so was sent in error.

I should imagine you have had the same problem so wouldnt worry too much.

Even with the VAT issue it's appalling the length of time people are being made to wait!!! Is it a case of too much work and not enough staff to manage it all???

People are receiving review packs because their IVA's are still open approaching 12 months after their anniversary / final payment.

Irrespective of the VAT issue this is shameful.

I don't think you are expected to complete them though - your iva is completed apart from the completion letter.

If memory serves me correctly and without digging out my IVA proposal from Nov 06, I am sure there is a paragraph in there that stipulates a period of 'up to 6 months for administration'. Does that mean if they exceed this they would be breach of contract? I would certainly consider seeking legal advise if I go over the 6 months. It is so unfair as we just want to start rebuilding our lives on the financial front and can't until we get that certificate. I am now in the fortunate position of having over £1,000 a month disposal income and I have plans ie trying to get a mortgage (I pay early £700 in rent)so it is really important to me to clear the decks and improve my credit file asap. I am in a job that requires SC security clearance which will expire this year. I know I will need to admit to my IVA when I reapply and that it shouldn't be a problem but it would all go alot smoother if i had the closure certificate to send them. I know if you are still in an IVA they ask you to do something similar to an I&E which will prolong my clearance. No one knows (and I mean no one)about my IVA and I still want to keep a lid on it especially on the work front. Come June I will be on GTs case morning noon and night if I have heard nothing.

That's three people now who've been waiting 12 months for their completion letter. As someone else said, it's shameful.

It is bad but, with the VAT issue, the IP's hands were tied although that does seem to be heading in the right direction as I know VN have been told their refund is on the way.

Sorry but I really can't accept this "tied hands" excuse as a reason for leaving people completely in the dark as to what's happening. Neither does it explain how some people are only finding out that they still apparently owe money when they are pushing to find out what the delay is.

As has been said before GT, like all the other companies, have had the complicating VAT issue to deal with.

What a number of people are reporting on this forum is rank poor service, the VAT refund does not excuse this.

It's simply not right that people don't know what is happening to their IVA almost 1 year after they think it's been finished.

Why does it seem to be beyond the wit of GT to look at cases where closure has not been achieved after 6 months and write a simple letter explaining why and what the likely timescale for closure is?

It's hardly rocket science is it.

Totally agree Alderson. Also I am sure I read on here a couple of months ago that some IPs were still closing cases irrespective of the VAT issue so it was a company decision not to close cases...so 'no hands were tied'...IPs decison. Apologies if I have this wrong but I am sure this is what I read. Now the excuse is backloags...sorry but get extra staff in or overtime...at the end of the day I like many others are being stopped from getting on with our lives due to being reliant on IPs closing cases. IP's have made their money out of us and I feel that closing our cases is a low priority to some of them...simply out of order.

The only thing I can suggest Ladybird is that you complain directly to GT. They will have an internal complaints procedure.

There is nothing the forum can do to make IP's close cases sooner.
