Just trying to be sure, are'nt defaults registered after the IVA start supposed to be removed once the IVA is complete?

They are, but sometimes they dont so they need a little 'nudge' by sending your completion certificate to those creditors who have any registered after the IVA agreement date (post completion) removed.

If there are any on there then you need to write to the data controllers for those companies who have defaulted once the IVA was agreed.

Thanks.

That's what I thought, looks like I have some writing to do but I want to check what it says on the experian and equifax reports now as only just checked on the callcredit noddle one first.

Is it easy to stop the free trial on both these sites or is it hard to find the link on their sites to cease the trial.

No morgan- you normally have to ring the credit agencies up to cancel the trials

They have the obligation under the guidance notes for defaults by the Information Commissioner to back date any default date post IVA to the date the IVA was agreed.

They may delete it, if they do that's a bonus but I'd be looking for them to amend the default date as the IVA will impact your credit file just as much as having the defaults on there.

Thanks ginger and matrix.

Hope that is going to be easy to do as heard some horror stories about trying to get in touch with them to cancel.
What I can see off the 1 report I have i'm going to be doing a bit of writing.

Easy to cancel - but be preparing for the hard sell !!

they will try to downsell you to a monitoring service, which might not be a bad idea if you want to monitor your report for any changes given your data has been published in the public domain.

Done my form for the experian report with no problems but equifax is a joke. They wont accept the debit card number or some of the postcodes for previous addresses. Card worked fine for experian and postcodes correct but they say not recognised, I think I know my own postcodes [:(!]. If they don't want my business then I think I will give them a miss.

Much as I loathe Equifax at the moment, you need to sort them out otherwise potentially if there is inaccurate information on there it could have impacts for you in the future.

e.g. they have a habit of putting details of your completed IVA into a notes section which is visable forever! You have to tell them to delete said note as an example.

Yeah I know what you mean but if they're not accepting my card details or address details what can I do? I don't have a cheque book to use.

Have you tried calling them up and doing it over the phone?

You could always get a postal order and do it through the post. It's a hassle I know but as matrix says all three need sorting otherwise it's unlikely you will get credit as these days most places use all three agencies to come to a decision so clearing up one or two won't see an end to it

Got an interesting phone call the other day from one of the creditors about the defaults shown on credit report.
All my accounts show settled but there are defaults after the IVA start date in the history of the accounts. I mentioned this to the lady on the phone and she said the defaults would remain on the report until they reach 6 years. Surely this can't be right in showing defaults in the history right up to present date. The ones affected were all closed accounts. She said they were all up to date on the record but that does'nt sound right.

Should a default in the history not be amended to show no defaults after the start of the IVA?
