Hi Please can you help / comment on this anyone.
I entered into an IVA some 5 years ago as most of our debt was in my partners name she was depressed lost her job etc and when I queried her going bankrupt I was advised they would take the house (me my wife and at the time 5 yr old daughter) I was advised to enter an IVA with my partner as my salarywould save the house as long as the IVA payments were kept on time. two months after our IVA was accepted me and my partner split, she went off the rails and I took the house and obviously the IVA. I successfully completed my IVA on 21st May 2010 and recieved a completion certificate from my supervisor some 3 months later. My 6th year anniversary is coming up in Feb 2013 and subsequently I am expecting my credit file to be clear XXX I have however been invited to go to Australia to work as I have a proffessional job. Will my 5 year old satisfied IVA effect me in any way Visa / Bank Account or morgage. I am nervous as I earm £45K in the UK have £0 debt and cant even get a phone on credit.

The IVA will stay on your file until 6 years after approval so you will find it very difficult to get any credit in the UK until then, however, I don't think this would aply in Oz?

justin have you checked you credit reports - just in case there defaults etc on them !! you can get your 3 X stat report for £2 each

I think you will be fine to move to Australia, but I do agree that you should do as ginger suggests. If you have any defaults registered after the date of initial IVA acceptance then you need to write to those creditors and tell them to remove the defaults.

You really need to check your credit files as the above have suggested, al your defualts and IVA should have dropped off your credit file by now and you should be able to get credit, certainly a mobile phone on contract!

Its a bit of a faff, but head over to the template letter area of these forums for some great letter with guidance the matrix has done with an explination of how to find out who you need to send your letters and copy of completion certificate too (not customer services dept of the old criditors!!)

You'll need to send any letters to the Data Controllers at the creditors but you may find that your debts have been sold on so do check which company they are with.
