Hi Mark. Beachy head is a bit drastic ! pop over to www.iva.com and have a look at the companies there. Speak to a couple, there are reviews to help you choose, and take some expert advice.

There are far better solutions out there and I am sure you will get all the help you need here.

Don't waste another minute. Take a look at www.iva.co.uk and speak to an expert. There are good companys out there that will give you sound, free and impartial advice.

Do as foggy suggests and contact a few of the companies listed at iva.com and see what they say,there is a solution out there for you,do you have property with equity in it?

This time last year we had 80k debts and I was so depressed I thought that hubby would be better off without me as I have quite a lot of life insurance.

Found this forum and in June our IVA was approved paying back 18p in the £. Have just had a full and final offer accepted by creditors and so within the next 6 - 8 weeks we will be debt free.

There is always a solution to our debt problems that don't have to involve Beachey Head. Speak to 2 or 3 companies as suggested above. Always best to sound out a few as you need to feel comfortable with the company that you go with. You could also contact some of the Insolvency Practioners who post on here by going to the ask an expert a question section of this website.

Let us know how you get on and keep posting. This forum kept me sane whilst going through the application process.

5 years ago i was 40k ish in debt, numerous loans, overdraft, credit cards, im now 16 days aways from being debt free.*

There is a future, with the right help and advice you can get through it. CCCS helped me out loads and worked as a middle man, it lenghtened the start out, but they looked after me with advice until my IP took over. The advice above is all good as well!

Welcome to the forum Mark.q, firstly it will cost way too much in petrol to go to Beachey Head, much better to seek out the professional help and advice from the IVA professionals. I too reached a point when I thought there was no way out but thanks to the support on here, and the advice and guidence from my IP and her staff I found a way out. It is not an easy route, certainly for me. I lost my dignity and pride in revealing the true state of my financial affairs, and really didn't (don't) like discussing my private affairs with others, but i realised I could no longer afford pride and dignity and it was time to face facts. I have no illusions about the journey ahead being an easy ride but I do know that I will learn many valuable lessons along the way, and my destination will be a debt free future where credit cards no longer exist. So what I am trying to say Mark.q is this; no matter how bleak the situation looks there is always a solution; and any solution requires recognition, work and commitment. For the tough times there is the support that this forum gives freely. Good luck with the future and keep in touch.

Can only echo the opinion of other posters. There is a solution for you and you just need to make a few calls to find imaprtial case specific advice, do keep visiting the forum for any advice/support as needed as we're all here to help.

Honestly you're a few phone calls away from being on your journey to debt freedom. x

My Mrs and I are at the early stages of our IVA, we have our creditors meeting a week on Thurs. Take a look at my blog (link below) it'll give you a good idea of what to expect during the 6 weeks or so while an IVA is arranged.

there is a way out and some good advice is right here! 6 yrs ago i was 75k in debt and could no longer even afford all my minimum repayments on my cards! fast forward to today and after completing my iva i now don't owe a penny to anyone, have a clean credit history, have just been upgraded to a Halifax Reward account, have a Vanquis credit card (repaid in full every month), have nearly £1000 in my savings account and saving approx £200 a month from my salary.. a hard lesson learnt over those 6 yrs but you can turn things around!
