Hi all

Sure this has been answered before and I'm pretty sure I know the answer but thought its best to double check.

Long story short, I have to go away for business for 6 weeks and they want to get me a credit card for the hotel and other expenses.
1/ Do they credit check me
2/ Will it show up on my credit report

My colleague who has 1 says it shows up on her credit report so I'm thinking I'll have to inform my IP of this?

Hi,

If it is a company credit card and they are funding the bill then you should be ok. I presume it would be in the company's name with you as a named card holder?

Yeah thats what it said on the application. But I am responsible for making the the payments. Company credit my account once my expenses have been approved then I in turn transfer the money from my account to the credit card. Thats what makes me think I should tell my IP.

You may be right - usually the company are totally responsible for any payments.

Best to speak to your IP and hopefully one of the experts can help as well.

In the case you describe, I doubt very much that you will be accepted for the card. A company credit card would be paid off directly by your company, you would only be a named user so a credit check would not normally be carried out.

Anything involving any form of credit should be run by your IP to see whether approval is needed or not. Hopefully, if you were to be turned down by the credit card company it will not cause a problem with your job. Depending on your relationship with your boss would it be an idea to mention it to them and see if there is another way of doing it - either commpany pays the bill or you get a pre paid credit card instead which you pay off once reimbursed. You would need a payment break from your IVA to have available funds to put on it in the first place though.

Same situation as you. The card is underwritten by the company but I settle & claim back. No credit check for the end user. If you do not settle the comany has to.

Hi,
I had exactly the same question as you when my firm gave me a Company Credit Card a few years ago while i was in an IVA.
Do not worry as it is the Firm that is named primarily that is footing the Bill and they are the ones credit checked and not you as you are just a Card Holder with your name underneath so you have absolutely nothing to worry about as the card belongs to the company and not you in a sense.

Be interesting to know what the outcome is.
