Hi crozzle and welcome to the forum

Professionally as I am a practicing IP myself, it would not be right for me to pass comment on another firm, but if you are not feeling right about the process, there is no harm in getting a second opinion from another firm or two. It won't cost anything, and it might restore your confidence that your original choice was the right one.

hello, if you have a "niggle" you should listen to that.

i'm not sure how far through the process you are but it may not be too late to ring 1/2 more IP firms before you go ahead.

our IP was Melanie Giles who's posted to you here. we found her team very easy to talk too.

post how you get on.

Hi crozzle - as the others have said above, best to seek advice from at least one IP before finally committing yourself. You have a 5 year relationship ahead of you and you need to feel comfortable and at ease with who you choose to work with.

I don't personally know anything about the firm you are currently working with towards your IVA so cannot give any advice about them.

If you go to the ask the experts a question section of this site you can see some of the firms that advise on here on a regular basis.

If you then take a look at www.iva.com and check out some ratings of companies you could get some free and impartial advice from 1 or 2 more companies.

Be very wary about any firms that may charge up front fees to introduce you to an IP - You can go direct. I made that mistake, I could have gone direct to an IP saved 2 upfront payments and finished 2 months earlier, instead of using the intermediaries who introduce you to the IP after taking all your details.

Still back then I was in a hole to the tune of £70K+ and would have done anything to get out.

If they ask for cheques payments up front direct to them rather than the IP firm that's a sign of them being a introducer and if you feel you can do the paperwork all by yourself, then you should run a mile in the direction of a IP.

Hi crozzle. Have to say that I had dealings with MDC before starting my iva and wasn't impressed with them. They told,me that I had to sell my car and could only go.bankrupt!!

Speak to some other companies as suggested.

Hi and welcome Crozzle. Yes it is daunting to begin with, but like most things you`ll find it easier as it goes on. Personally I found it a bit of a leap of faith giving a total stranger personal financial details which I would be ashamed to divulge to anyone I knew, but believe me it gets easier and the main thing to remember is you`re not the only one or the first, they`ve heard it all before !!
As the others have said, choosing the company you feel most comfortable with is very important as its a long term relationship so it needs to feel right. And now you`ve given out your details to one company, the next one will be that little bit less stressful, so get a couple more to compare with.
Well done making the first step

Hi and thanks for all the responses and advice. I got my proposal from mdc and it all looks good. I've also been reading a lot of reviews about them and it all seems good so I'm proceeding with them. They're proposing 24p per £. The creditors meeting is on Feb 15th, so fingers crossed.
