Hi everyone, back in november i managed to do a F&F settlement on my iva a year early.
im trying to move away from think banking and paying them money for a account that really serves no purpose to me now. plus want to get into a 'normal' bank and start savings account.
however i seem to be turned down on any bank or savings account as i have been in this IVA which will keep on record for 2years.
can anyone reccomend a next move or any post iva advice.
many thanks
Matt

If co-op weren't one of your creditors their cashminder is a decent, albeit basic, account. However, they are "fuuny" about savings accounts. Yorkshire Building Society do an e-saver savings account you can open easliy online.

Hi Ninja - hope you are ok?

I'm very well thank you. It's nice to see you again.
Not sure about smile.
How about Nationwide or Barclays?

thanks, you too. been a mad few months this end lol
i suppose if i talk to co-op they will let me know if its a issue or not. barclays however is in my bad list.
im looking at nationwide now and the account in bank they said anyone can get a card from says no to people in a IVA so i think nationwide may shun me.
its kind of annoying that im now in a nice financial state but there is no way to get onto the 'market' again. :/

Just read this thread. Yorkshire bank you will need to ask for readycash current account - basic account and should be fine. Savings - most building societies will be fine.
If you are struggling after that there is a list online of basic accounts & their names for each one. If you ring, go online or in branch & ask for an account you may get rejected as they won't push you to a basic account.
Good luck & hope it's not too stressful.
