I have been contacted by "IVA Helpline". I've called them out of interest and they assure me I could be rid of my debt in six months. Are they and is this legit?

These companies should be avoided at all costs. They have no idea of your circumstances and cannot make promises that you will be debt free in such a short space of time. They are just trying to make money from you.

If you are struggling financially then speak to a professional. Visit www.iva.co.UK for a list of good companies and reviews. Give one or two a ring for some good, free advice as to.all of the options available.

I assume they get away with making statements like that because if you were in a position to make a full and final type lump sum IVA arrangement it could probably be done in that time. Highly dubious tactics though.

if it sounds too good to be true it usually is, I would avoid anything like this!

Why would the people on here go through an IVA over 5-6 years?? - most of us (including myself) would have taken the easier option ? do your really believe the Cr*p you have been told??

Free of debt probably by filing for bankruptcy. It's a long process and there is no quick painfree way to get out of debt. Don't go with these jokers, try contacting some reputable firms who will tell you all the facts including the negatives so you can make an informed choice.

what they are really offering is to make you bankrupt and to charge you a big fee to help you.you can do this yourself if thats what you want to do much cheaper and esier.dont touch them.

The one thing you can be sure of when trying to solve a debt problem Adam is that there are no easy options or magic wands. It is possible to do a full and final settlement IVA which would be completed almost as soon as it started, but you will need a reasonable lump sum to achieve this. Otherwise your monthly payments will last for the more normal average of 5 years.
