Our variation meeting was fine, all accepted, so we're now on a 6 month payment break. Got a bit stressed the morning of the meeting and was so glad when the call was over. Now I have to wait for the redundancy monies to come through, which is taking what feels like an eternity. My parents have been trying to help out as it's been a struggle bridging the gap whilst waiting for tax credits, jobseekers, mortgage payment protection etc. Quite frightening how long everything takes to kick in.

Job hunt isn't going so well, after about 50 applications and tailored covering letters, CVs, portfolio etc. I've had a staggering response of one rejection email and nothing else! And having asked a couple of local companies if they'd take me on for one or two days unpaid, voluntary work, to help them out and get my skillset up to date (which I thought would be beneficial to getting another job), one company never got back to me and the other said I didn't have the required experience to do work experience. Erm, I guess 12 years' experience in the field should surely put my foot in the door for UNPAID work? Said to my OH, perhaps I need to offer people money to let me work for them? Absolutely bonkers! It's depressing to think people don't even want me when I'm offering to work for free! [:(!] Just got to keep slogging on and hope I get something within the 6 months, don't want to think about the consequences if I'm not working by then [:(]

Hi Lemsip congratulations on getting your variation aproved. You are in a tough situation at the moment it's very stressful but you are coping well.

I have a HR background I am very forward thinking and have also worked in the private HR sector. I'd be happy to look at your CV for you if you wanted some new ideas maybe? Very best wishes either way. If you do, just let Andy Davie know and he can let you have my email address it's not allowed to be published on the forum itself. Very best wishes hang in there Lemsip it'll come good.

That's good news about the payment break.

Sorry to hear that you are still struggling though and that the job search isn't going well.

I do hope that you find another job soon.
