I am in an IVA. My wife is not. Can I go on a family holiday abroad with her and my daughter if she pays (obviously!).

Thanks for the reply. Did you have to tell your IP?

Would this come under my windfall/inheritance payment clause of £500 or more having to be paid to the IP. The reason I'm asking is my brother in law is getting married in Thailand and I basically have to go but worried about the situation. Thanks for your help.

I wouldnt have thought you would have to anyway, so I'm surprised that some people inform their IP - once your I&E has been established if you can afford to go for a small holiday away with your family from what is left over then thats your business surely? You would have to wonder where to draw the line if you had to think about whether to tell your IP everytime you spent something that wasnt considered essential - a couple of pints at the weekend? A birthday present for your mum or dad? I appreciate a holiday is more expensive but the principle is the same.

I wouldn't tell my IP - its not as if you are doing something which isn't allowed x

It doesn't come under a windfall or inheritance as it is a gift. My parents paid for this last one and two years ago my daughter paid for us to go to Egypt.

I didn't tell my IP but I know of some posters that do.

Go and have a fab time!!!

Go and enjoy yourself! If your wife isn't in an IVA it's up to her what she does with her money so there's no problem with her paying for a holiday.

i wouldnt have dreamed of telling my IP .Been in an iva is/was stressfull and we all deserve the breaks. Its seams to me there should be better rules on what you need to tell your IP our iva company was hardly any help during our iva and some of the staff were down right rude!.so im afraid it got the point where we stopped tellin them alot of things we perhaps should have
