Hi, can I be a new treasurer for a local club when I have an IVA arrangement? I will need to be a signature for their bank account (two signatures per cheque, no over draft). I am in the 4 year of our IVA with no missed payments. I do this for other clubs so they put me in a position that I couldn't say no.
Thanks

Hi Eliza will they credit cheque you?
I'm unsure but if only signatory then maybe not? One of our other posters will be able to help I'm sure. x

I just performed a search for you and hope the above is helpful but not the best news I'm afraid. x

I didnt think an IVA stopped you being a club treasurer.

And that link just pulls up this thread!!!!

You're right there Paul!

I have no idea whether it stops you being a treasurer or not.

I'm glad you said that cos I thought it was just me being thick and missing something!
I'm just rather nervous of being turned down by the bank and letting the group down- brings back lots of negative vibes from pre iva (if you know what I mean)

Thanks Lesley,
the link covers two points: small group & local charity and I've have in the past done both.
Charity is much more complex and I can see that being a no no.
but local group is much more low key and I've not had to put about insolvency in a group's constitution before, it would be easier if the chair wasn;t insisting on going with me to the bank.
I wonder how that other posting got on.

I think you may have to ask them about this.

I don't think we found out how the other poster got on.

Sorry about the mixup earlier Eliza. One of our experts will be along in the week I'm sure and be able to give a professional opinion.
