Well I've been lurking on the forum since March. Me and my partner Aimee have accrued close to £50k of debt between us, and although when we lived separately we were servicing our debts, now we have moved in together (with her 3 lovely children) we are about £1500/month short of meeting our commitments [:0]

Further to advice from this forum, I approached Andy at Vincent Bond with a view to looking at an IVA, and he has been a superstar, as has Karrie. Our case has been passed to Liberta Financial who seem to have an excellent reputation. Hopefully our proposal will be sorted in the next few weeks, our creditors meeting can be arranged and fingers crossed we'll be making our first IVA payment in the near future.

We are getting married in October (a nice little affair, funded largely by mother-in-law God bless her) and hope that an IVA will be accepted so we can start planning properly for our future, and for the future of our children.

I thoroughly enjoy reading the threads on here, the support is superb! It is only through this forum that we have been able to find a solution to our problems and tackle things head on with confidence. I will be popping in every so often with updates :)

Best wishes to all!

Tom and Aimee.

It's nice to see you, Andy comes highly recommended and is a very nice man as I have met him several times. Will be seeing him again tomorrow at our Frugal Friends do. Liberta also have a good reputation so you are in safe hands there.

hi tomoose
glad to see you on the way to sorting stuff out.
its hard but not impossible or unenjoyable and just think in 5 years time the stuff your going to be able to do without this hanging round your neck.
treat it as an adventure and you will be fine not only in mind but spirit as well.

Thanks for the warm messages everyone. (Please, call me Tom - unsurprisingly Tom had already been taken!)

Well I'm expecting a call from my IP tonight to go through my proposal, and I'm really nervous! She said it would take about an hour - I don't know quite what will take an hour, but to go through it at 7pm is an encouraging start, I work 8-6 so availability out of office hours is important to me.

I hope she can agree with all the proposed expenses, I feel they are all justified and should be just about affordable.

I had a representative from NCI knock at the door yesterday. He was representing LloydsTSB to whom I owe a fortune. He was very nice actually, I gave him my IPs name and number, and off he went, surprisingly pleasant!

Hi, welcome to the forum, they are a friendly bunch on here.

Good luck with your proposal, the hardest thing is making that call in the first place.

It's usually just discussing what you owe, to who, going through a suitable income and expenditure plan etc etc. You really have nothing to worry about (easy to say i know).

Good luck with the call :)

Welcome Tom. This place is indeed a Godsend (I wish I had found it before going into my IVA).

Hope your call tonight goes well tonight, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that all is ok as I wander around an overgrown cemetery at an abandoned Church (Family History Research).

Hope the interview goes well Tom.

You're one of the few who have had a debt collector call - they are usually polite though.

He really was very nice! Wished me good luck and everything.

The 40min phone call went just fine. Ruth from Liberta Financial went through everything, confirmed a few points and that was it really, asked a few questions. Should have a proposal by the weekend. :)

Once you have checked that over - signed and returned it, you'll be that step further. Not long now Tom!

Make sure you read the proposal carefully Tom - anything you're not sure about then contact Liberta and of course you can always ask away on here.

Once the proposal has been signed and returned then it's usually 16 days until your creditor meeting.
