Hi all,

I posted a question about ot payments earlier and had a great deal of good advice so thanks for that. I am wondering whether somebody can give me advice regarding the following

I am on standby 1 week in 4 and get a allowance for doing this however it is not guaranteed and could be changed or pulled at any time. Would I be right in thinking this should be included in my ot rather than part of my salary?

Thanks in advance

Different IPs would handle it differently depending on how regular the payment is. Eg how many times has it been paid to you over the past year and is it likely to continue.

I would not include irregular or uncertain income as part of your basis salary - better to include it under the 10%/50% ruling.

Thanks Melanie, the likelyhood is it would carry on but its not guaranteed and if i dont do the week on call due to illness or if the company change the number of times I do it a year then it may cause me a problem. Best to err on the side of caution I think

I completely agree and hope your own IP will too.

My standby allowance and my shift allowance were included in my IVA. I'm hoping they're not going to change anytime soon!

I assume that this income is regular Jan?

The shift allowance is regular, standby does vary from month to month but there is the chance that the payment for standby will drop with the Winsor report (or was it the Hutton report? I forget!) and our shifts are being scrutinised at them moment.

I get enhanced for working Saturdays (also included) and there is a good chance this will be stopped. I work two Saturdays in five.

My shift allowence has been cut in work I am down £100 per month as mine was included in our IVA.......I cant wait and have everything crossed for my annual reveiw I hope they will adjust my payments as at the moment we are relaying on overtime to make up my short fall and thats not good!!!

If it is public sector it's the Hutton Report, the one that wants to rob us of our pensions. Don't think we can rely on anything post 2015

Love Mr Hutton! I am 50 in 2014 so will be seriously thinging of going before they change everything. 30 years service by then so hope it's enough to live on and get a little part time job.

But can you draw your pension at 50 without penalty. I have to wait until 55 and if I go early I will lose 5% per year that I have gone early and then have to wait until 6o to be able to claim.

Sorry for going off topic.

Kazza - if you can do it then great. I will be 60 in 2013 and really hope I can go at that time - I'm not holding my breath though. I have over 40 years service and hope that I can get my full pension.

I have to make it until 2017 to leave at 60 --- unless they change it before then --- in which case I shall be working until 2023.

Everytime I get near a goal they move the posts! I was due to get to my max this year and they have cancelled that .... ggrrrr
