I have just spoken to our IP who has told me that our payment will increase by £53 a month. I have just looked at our figures and the difference between hubbies P60 from last year to this is £53 and the difference between my tax returns are -£308.I am waiting for the letter to arrive to show me how they arrive at the figures but I cant see from hubbies pay and my decrease in pay how they come up with £53 more.

Hi Carole,

Did you make sure that you put all of your expenditure down for this year? Things have gone up so much just recently.

You should query it if you think you are right.

Carole - have you an old copy of last years I+E ? - check to make sure they have not left anything off.

Also if you spend more on electric etc - make sure you put the true figues down (not what you think they want).

It could be (and hopefilly )a simple miscalculation

Have made increases where I have had to but have been honest and sent letters to verify increases in insurances and stuff like that. I have added haircuts and the cats this year as I was not told I could claim for them when we first took out the IVA. Have increased petrol but left food the same as we seem to be managing.Letter should be with us soon as it was drawn up on the 5th.Also asked about son who has just got 4 days work a week starting 20th but he will have to go self employed and buy his own equipment and insurances and as he is a tree surgeon these are not cheap. I have told him I will want £20 a week to cover his food etc as I honestly dont want to penalize him for our mess as he wants to save for his own place.Still all I can do is sit and wait for the letter then challenge their figures if I dont think they are right

Well the up date on our review is as follows. Our IVA payments are based on hubbys basic plus 17 hours overtime a fortnight. Now I thought any thing over this would be on the 10% then 50 50 split but that not so. Hubbys over time is counted as income and so we have to increase by 50% as the overtime bonuses clause is only for one payment and not for regular overtime, are you still with me. Then I was told I couldnt add to my I&E and therefor couldnt add the cats and haircuts as they were not on the original I&E. At this I told the nice lady that I was a member of this forum and that I had understood from posters that I could. She went away and phoned back later and had worked hard to increase all of our allowances to the max so that our payments would stay the same. At the end of the call we were almost there and she emailed me the new I&E which I have looked over and made a few more changes to and I think that by my calculations payments should remain the same.She is calling me back on Monday to finalize.I cant praise the young woman enough for all of the help she has give to us to keep us going in the IVA.

Fingers crossed that between you, this will be sorted. Is your husband's overtime guaranteed?

I think that they averaged out his yearly over time but as a groundsman he can do more in the summer but very little in the winter if the weather is bad.I have known him do as much as 36 hours overtime in the summer but as little as 4 in the winter.

If not guaranteed and what is really in this day and age financial wise it would have been possibly best to leave it as per the arrangement of last year and pay over any uplift as and when. I hope Monday brings you more understanding. x

Have just spoken to Lesley at Varden Nuttall and we have no increase for this year. I am so pleased and cant praise Lesley enough for the work she has put in to keep our payments the same.
