Can you challenge a IVA firm for how long it is taking for completing a F & F to closure statement following receipt of funds. We have so far waited 21 weeks and have now been told it will take up to 28 weeks. This company gets thousands for administrating and it is shocking customer service. Are the IVA firms govern by anyone who i can complain to?? How are we to repair our credit history when it takes this long??

Hi Cb3
Mine took a good few months too, was advised to allow up to 6 months, I know in my case I was held up by one creditor messing around with their claim. Have you spoken to your IP to see if there is a specific holdup?

It's probably not due to a fault of your IP but of the creditors coming forward. I would do as nepensioner has advised and speak to your IP to see if you can find out more about the delay.

You might find that the admin period is written into your proposal (it is in mine ... and they allow up to 6 months).

No admin period was written into proposal and when they got sent the funds they said 12 - 15 weeks and at no time have come back and said it will take longer. My big issue is how are you supposed to start to repair your credit history when you get no help. It is not due to delays of creditors but the IVA form have confirmed it is there backlog of work i.e poor management but they still get thousands of pounds in fees. Totally wrong

Your IVA will remain on your credit record for six years anyway so you have time to start clearing up any defaults registered after date of IVA acceptance.

I think a lot of people are having to wait a while now for completion to be sorted.

Which company are you with? They will have a complaints procedure so you should go through that initially.

Craigbeas - you IVA still will show on record for 6 years in total - so you only be able to do minimal repair to you credit report - until this IVA drops off the credit file

Yes i understand that but it is the principal of how inadequate they have been and customer service has been non existence. To me they should not receive there fees and give more to creditors

They did set up and have administered your IVA for the term it ran and whilst their customer service may not be up to scratch they have still seen it out to completion.

Find out their complaints procedure and lodge a complaint.

Hi, we had our F&f iva in Feb this yr. we are waiting for our certificate too, there seems to have been problems with HMR&C who we are told can be slow.

i understand your frustration. for me personally i'm more concerned with getting off the insolvency register. we're getting letters from companies who must be getting our address from there offering us a "service" to drop the IVA & go BR.

interesting that Kall said a lot of people are experiencing delays in getting their certificate's!

Thanks for message Rosepetal and like you we just want to get the 6 years up and not have this hanging over any longer. I would not mind if they came and told you it would take 6 months but never nothing while the money sites in their bank accounts. Have now sent strongly worded complaint
