Evening all,
I've today found out I was successful in applying for a job at a new company and have just handed my resignation in at my current firm where I've been working for over 6 years. I have however, just seen on the contract from the new firm that I'm subject to certain checks such as employment history, qualifications and credit. The credit one surprised me as last time I took a job on there was no such thing.
I'm currently in a DMP as got in a right pickle over loans, credit cards etc.. and am 1 year away from paying it all off. I'm comfortable in my payments and feel now I'm well on my way to a better life debt free. I had all kinds of late payments etc.. literally dozens and I know my credit score right now is shot to bits.
The job is a systems role dealing with finance so I'm really panicking now. What should be a great day of me celebrating me a new job has now been overshadowed.
A part of me thinks I should just tell them tomorrow first thing. That way I should know for sure and I could probably (with my tail between my legs) tell my employer I'd still like my job should it be a problem.
Another part of me thinks I'm just being paranoid, they're only looking for bankruptcies and they won't even mention it. Or that they won't even bother with the check at all?
If anyone has any experience with this then please let me know. From research I can see in America this happens alot although I'm not sure how much over here, although the company is very much global.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
