Hi everyone.
Just to give you all an update on my case. I had a lengthy phone call with my case administrator today and we went through my income and expenditure and agreed a figure to put forward to my creditors. It works out about 30p-40p in the pound.
I expect to receive my draft proposal on Saturday and it will be sent to my creditors next week with a creditors meeting date at the end of May/beginning of June.
Finally some light at the end of the tunnel! Also, I have now told my dad about my IVA so both parents are now aware which is a weight off my shoulders.
Fingers crossed my proposal is approved now!

Well done you for being able to tell your parents. No way could I do that.
Hopefully you can get a date soon - fingers crossed!

Hi, Good luck for when you get your meeting date, sounds like a good return to me for the creditors.
Glad you've managed to tell both parents and the weight has been lifted. x

Sounds like a decent return which creditors will gladly accept.

Good to see that you are getting there. When do you actually get to speak with the IP who is representing you as this is also an important stage of the process.

Thanks everyone.
Melanie, I'm not sure when I will be speaking to my IP? I haven't been told that I will be speaking to him...

Never spoke to mine whilst setting up the IVA.
If you're self employed Vignal then you will have to have a face to face otherwise not.
It is good if you can do it though.

I was under the impression I wouldn't need to speak to my IP and that the case administrator would deal with any of my queries?
Oh well, we'll see what happens!

I have never spoken to my IP Vignal. Still early days though. lol.
It's all moving along nicely for you though and that's the main thing.

It is not that important to speak to the IP when the proposal is being drafted. However, what is important is that the proposal is fully explained to you and your IP is approachable should the need arise. Case managers and administrators can deal with the majority of problems but there are certainly occasions when only the IP can address the issues.

I never even knew that I could approach my IP - always dealt with a case worker, and to be fair they were brilliant.

This differs from firm to firm. In my practice our IPs would never sign off an IVA proposal without having a detailed chat with our clients to make sure that they fully understand the implications of the commitment being made and that all of the terms are confirmed. It is our licence at the end of the day, not the staffs'!

We did have a phone call with someone to make sure that we understood exactly what we were entering into and this was before the proposal came out. When we got that we read it, signed it and sent it back. The next call was to give us a date and then on the date of the meeting.
