Hi
I am just under a year into my IVA
I have been talking with my partner about buying a property together, She already has a mortgage and has been on the property ladder for over 4 years, She has very good credit rating and has a good safe job, (school teacher)
My question is - Are there any companys out there that can put together a joint mortgage for 2 people, 1 who already has a mortgage and myself who is in a IVA. I have looked around but cant find any help.

Hi, unfortunately your iva will more than offset your girlfriends good credit rating. My boyfriend and I are in a similar situation and we are looking at him getting the mortgage in his name and me buying an equity share with my 'rent' each month. All legally drawn up of course. This might be a way forward for the two of you, because even if you had an offer of a mortgage it would be with an enormous deposit and a sub-prime interest rate. x

Good advice from BoL and hopefully affordability stacks up for your partner. If not she could look at getting a mortgage that takes into accounbt lodger income. This would not leave you in such a safe position as BoL but it would come down to trusting your partner. Use a good broker and always get independant legal advice.
