On this forum i have been advised to take out a separate IVA to my ex partner because we live separate lives although some of our debts are joint. I am on benefits and want to know if you can take out an IVA whilst recieving benefits?

Hi Dizziediva,

Yes you can do an IVA whilst receiving benefits. As long as it is affordable there is no problem.

Have you spoken to anyone yet?

I dont know of any reputable companies as yet so no, but i am researching this first before i do it. In the meantime im getting very stressed having creditors harrassing me with telephone calls and threatening letters, ie Natwest. I recieved a letter from Triton saying that they want me to pay the balance in full or increase my payment proposal of £1 token payment per month as i am on ESA or they will apply for a charging order and their client may even get possession of my home.[:0]

Hi, as I said on your other post, pop over to www.iva.com and speak to a couple of the companies there for free advice. They are very helpful and help you to put your thoughts together too.
