I would like to be able to say that my day has been positive. But that would be untrue. All letting agencies I approached said that they would require either 6 months rent or a guarantor.I have neither. Also no rentals will take cat so am completely disadvantaged.

Citizens Advice Bureau dont have an appointment for another week. I contacted solicitor and if I go ahead with them (outcome is uncertain) will cost a £120 for a hour consult.

Have looked through local paper and Gumtree no luck there either. I contacted Payplan as I have my IVA with them them they said contact them back when I move.

I think luck has finally deserted me

Oh Beaumont that isn't good, I'm hoping one of the other posters may have an idea, don't forget to write out a few cards for shop windows etc., it might just work. x

OK -- all is not lost. Did you take the CAB appointment ? It is cutting it fine, but they might be able to offer some assistance, albeit at a late stage.
Dig out the yellow pages and ask a few more solicitors if they do a free appraisal consult.
Check with your local authority -- they have a duty to house you in the circumstances .... maybe Shelter can get on to them for you.

Thanks. Feels like all is lost. Feel very demoralised now. Did take the CAB appointment though. I tried a couple of solicitors and the one above was the most reasonable. Tried local authority am not a priority. I was quite surprised that Payplan were unhelpful.

I'm sorry you are having such problems Beaumont and if there was anything I could do to help you I would.

See what the CAB say - after all he is only threatening court action after the fourteen days so that gives you a bit of leeway before he can get anything done.

I guess so but I know him well enough to know that he means it. At least I tried. Thanks to everyone who offered me advice.

Hi beaumont - don't give up yet.

It is difficult to house pets in rental accommodation (particularly flats which is what I'm guessing you can afford). Do you have anyone who can look after your cat temporarily?

Have you considered renting a room in someone's house? Depressing thought I know (from experience) but it is a roof nonetheless and it will be temporary. Some are quite nice, more like granny annexes and quite separate.

Will your ex help you? It is in his interests too after all.

Keep posting and letting us know how you get on. You'll have more support than you know what to do with!

I actually rented a flat some years ago where cats were welcome ( I had two at the time). Some landlords are pet friendly.

I do agree though that the ex should be helping towards this as it is not the OP's fault that this has happened.

My daughter has 5 cats and a chihuahua (how DO you spell that ??) and managed to rent a place by paying a months rent as a "pet damage" deposit on top of the usual deposit.

hi am coming in to this late so no real idea what was said before, but reading between the lines Iguess you are being asked to leave where you are and can't find another place.

this happened to a friend a few years back and the council said they couldn't help until the deadline date arrived....however, once the date has arrived you could stall and he would then have to get court date which could take weeks. Plus he has to serve you with a specific form to ask you to leave, and all deadlines are from this. Another close friend has recently had to serve notice to a non paying tenant and she found out that she needed this form, but only after having tried for months, once the form was done it was then a month before the tenant left.

Sorry not much more help or that I don't know the form, but it seems that you might have a bit of leeway with time.

Been reading your posts and I really feel for you, I cannot believe your partner of 15 yrs would treat you this way, if I was in your shoes I would stay put for a as long as possible and save as much money as possible to use as future rent, and as Melanie suggested ask for payment to leave to forego any beneficial interest you may have okay your partner may have used his money for the deposit etc etc but you can say he only had that money saved because you paid more towards the housekeeping or the mortgage etc, also if I was you I would google squatters rights and see what you could gain from this route and use it to threaten if necessary, dragging you through the courts in my opinion will take wks and wks they are soooooo slow
