Hi can you tell me if buying a sofa from dfs it would need a experian check? We have just paid a full and final settlement payment for IVA (YIPEE) but are aware that it stays on our records until 6 years (another 15 months) but are in desperate need for a new sofa and would like to pay 15 per month for 36 months on a new one. Can you confirm if this is possible?

I would imagine they would do a credit check, but only DFS can confirm one way or the other. As you have now stopped paying the IVA could you put aside what you have been paying each month until you can walk ino DFS and wave cash under their noses ?

Hi,

Well done on the settlement but you may find that you can't get any credit from DFS at the moment.

Agree with Foggy that it might be better to either put the money aside, or get a relative to fund it if possible?

You can try - they can only say no!

Yes, they will use a finance company to finance the loan. They will indeed do a credit check.

You can enjoy the anticipation and planning for the next couple of months! Or do you have parents who could help?

Keep in mind that it can take several weeks too come. So you maybe able to order it with a deposit. If it is ordered it will give you something to work to, and look forward to. Sometimes it can be 12 weeks on order.

I think that they would do the credit check (if they do) as soon as you say you want it, regardless of when you want it or they can deliver it.

Sorry - never been a fan of DFS or their ads. Some cunsomer forums rate the quality and customer service - garbage.

I would save for a couple of months - that way you have complete choice - and NO 4 year credit agreement

I actually like DFS and have had quality furniture from them in the past.

It is all down to individual preference at the end of the day.

Well I'm sitting on a DFS sofa and I'm happy with it!

I also can't fault their customer service.

As Kallis said - personal taste.

Life would be boring if we all like the same things :-)
