Hi i'm a bit worried,we've had a debt collector out looking for my husband today that the creditors might force bankruptcy upon us before the IVA is set up,is that likely? it seems to have escalated now from calls and letters to vists.

Scare tactics on the part of the debt collector I suggest - if the IVA is viable then bankruptcy proceedings can be blocked by your IP anyway. Keep a note of all the calls and visits also incase it turns into harrassment.

How many months have you been in arrears with your creditors?. Are they aware of the IVA proposal?.

It is a complete lot of nonsense and I won't let that happen Rosepetal.

Do you have a phone number for this debt collector Rosepetal? If so, you could always get your husband to give them a call and explain the situation. It might stop them from calling round again.

Good news!!!!! the debt collector wasn't related to the present situation we're in. about 2 years ago my husbands employer paid for him to have physio for his bad back (it still troubles him but the employer gave him a special chair and a desk that lifts up so he can stand up to work-it's really helped him)anyway to cut a long story short his employer still hasn't paid the bill (it seems to have got lost somehow) so the debt collector has come to him for payment! he's spoken to a manager who was very apologetic and now another person within the company has taken over it. my hubby rang the debt collectors back who said they too were sorry,it should be the company they're pursuing! pheeew!
thankyou all for the support during my scary wobble! x

Hi Kall, yes it is! more good news via Darryl today,he emailed & said the proposal is about ready to go out next week! i felt so pleased, the stress is very bad but i feel wary too in case it doesn't go through, just keep telling myself Melanie wouldn't be putting it forward unless she felt we had a good chance. it's such a roller coaster of emotions.
hope you're ok. i've looked online for some slow cooker recipe sites,it'll save paying for books! might try the library too.

That's great news. You will be fine with Mel - I can't remember the last time I read a post where she had an application rejected.
