Hi everyone,
Sorry ive not posted for sometime since our IVA completion. Thought id update you all post IVA. 3 weeks after receiving out completion cert my hubby was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney - bit of a blow after 5 years of IVA. Anyway lucky for him this was an accidental find during an MRI for a back injury. Hes had a major op and is now recovering. Life since the IVA is good - the only thing we splashed out on was a holiday - nothing extravagent but we spent 2 weeks in cornwall with the kids. I still shop with my list - the same one i've had for the last 5 years - spend loads of time trawling through e-bay!!! Infact we still budget and do the same things as if we were still in the IVA!! I had some post the other day from Vanquis saying id been pre approved for one of their cards - haven't filled it in though. Despite whats happening with my hubby i have been looking in at the forum regularly and its nice to see so many people completing their IVAs - i noticed Helen finally got her cert!! - well done hunxxx. For all of you who have just started your IVAs - just persevere, any problems your IPs are there to help and guide you - don't be frightened to call them if you are having any problems. Ask any questions you have here - everyone on here are so helpful, understanding and are fully aware of how you're all feeling and what you're going through - none of you are alone and there is light at the end of the tunnel.xx

So sorry to hear about your husband, but glad he is on the mend. That must be a relief for you all.

Glad that everything is working out so well for you post IVA. It's nice to see that things can get back to normal.

Keep posting to let us know how you are getting on, and how hubby is doing.

Good to see you again and do pop in now and then to see us won't you? Wishing your hubby a very speedy recovery and I think the art of budgetting will stay with me too now I've finally mastered it. All the best x

Good stead. About Vanquish card,If you want to build credit then it is a good option.Capital 1 does one too, I would prefer them.

With the job climate taking a massive big hit,graduate jobless all time high etc - getting into an IVA now for 5 or 6 years is not without concerns and intrepidations.Some will crash out!

It will be one of the biggest challenges one will face in one's life.

Thank you for all your kind words. We're looking forward to xmas etc and being able to treat the kids this year!. Our plan is to have a fantastic xmas with all the trimmings etc and then save for holiday next year - mind you we really need to update our car.
Anyway, hubby has his follow up appt with the Urologist on the 17th so we'll find out then with regards to future treatments etc. We do know already that there was no local spread when they removed the tumour which is good news so hopefully it hasn't travelled else where.
Umm - nomoremoney - i dont think i'll be signing up to capital one - they were one of my creditors during IVA!!! Thinking about the Vanquis but i don't know about anyone else - i find it scary signing up to a credit card again - even though its likely only to be a small amount. Speak soon.

Regarding Vanquis, I have their credit card and although it was scary at first it now comes in very useful! I pay for my petrol and a few other bits on the card, but I have the satisfaction of seeing it paid in full each month.

When I first took it out I was given a £250 limit, which has now been raised a couple of times.

Welcome back Jen46 - so sorry to read about your husband but glad to hear it has been contained - hope that is the last of it - you two have been through enough with surviving the IVA. We'll be thinking of you both on 17th and look forward to hearing more from you - hopefully all positive.

About Capital One,and other creditors they do not operate a policy of -'you have been on an IVA so you can't have one of our cards that you default on' No,all that is now history -slate wipe clean.

Banks are buisness people not people holding personal grudges. I defaulted on Capital 1 and would not hesitate to apply for one of their Credit builder when the time comes.

A new start.All is forgiven!
