Hi all

My son has broken our Wii and we are fortunate to be covered on our Home Insurance n sending someone next week to look n repair or replace it.
They asked me if we had an criminal convictions & if we are BR - no obviously I said No but mentioned nothing of the IVA as they did not ask. Just wondered if being in IVA n claiming on my insurance if I was ok as Im not BR as such!

Thank you - just a little worried when they asked the question n if they would start doing searches on us!
Lets hope it can be fixed or replaced! $50 excess not to bad!

Thanks Jan x

Talking to the person at the insurance office they are having alot of claims for the Wii. Most recent one was someone playing a boxing game n got to close to the TV n smashed the screen!
Feel abit bad now as Ive said my son knocked it off the shelf not that he stuck a knife in it - might ring back n cancel.

I would leave it as it is. It's accidental damage regardless of how it was done.

Thanks Jan - just feel guilty n know it was an accident on my little ones behalf. I only thought of our insurance today after spending 2 days trying to work out what to do, but yet I feel bad!

Don't feel bad.

My hubby once tried to defrost the freezer using a knife and managed to pierce the inside!

We claimed and got a new fridge/freezer!

Have they always asked those questions when claiming or is it a recent thing.
Seems a strange question to ask because if your premiums are up to date, why should the claim for a Wii alter if you were BR

Thanks Jan - I just thought after paying for all these years n its something I forget we have got, just suddenly popped into my head!

Pandy - all up to date with my payments etc n paid for many years. No idea if this is something new or if they hold it against someone BR trying to claim!

We have made two claims on ours in the past few months and not been asked that question.

However, I do know that some companies don't like people who are bankrupt.

Oh yes I forgot because we had money worries and are trying to sort them out it makes us much more liable to commit fraud doesn't it. [:D][:D]

So effectively they assume that anyone who is BR is probably fibbing in order to get new stuff?

Your insurance company sounds like a good one Jan.
I did get questioned on if I had claimed in the last 5 years - n have 4-5 years ago n answered them honestly.
N then questioned what it was:
My eldest, whom was 3-4yrs, leaned over the main large TV n knocked it off the TV table!
No questions or anyone sent - just worried about someone coming this time!
