Hello there, sorry iff this becomes a long post!

i had an IVA Nov 2003 which is fully finished now

Today I checked my credit treference and finally all the incorrect defaults are removed. Experian gave me a credit score of 999 and excellent. Equifax is showing as clear.

I have a Vanquis card that I have had for over a year and am on a joint mortgage.

I applied for an MBNA card today to try and sort out my credit cards, as Vanquis is obviously high APR and was refused. A "light check" from barclayvcard also turned me down flat.

now i did have a barclaycard as part of my IVA so maybe this is why Barclays say no? But as far as I can see my credit reference is perfect but i can't get credit (I also wanted a car but now am not sure that will happen)

My ex-partner is bankrupt and he is on the joint mortgage. Trying to get the house back is a whole other story but is this why I am not getting credit? And if so how can i get him unlinked from my reference? I cannot get a mortgage as the house is neg equity but I am liable for all the debts so why is he even showing as having the mortgage?

Any help gratefully received as i am at the end of my tether now.

Hi Andym

Im sorry your having so many problems & Im not an expert on the matter, but I may be able to help alittle.

Some years ago, I had moved from property to another & the tenant that moved in after me, obviously got some junk mail n applied n ran up debt a Next account in my name.
I only found out as the landlord whom lived at the same property received a statement n forward it on to me. I got in touch with the Next n had to prove whom I was n where I lived n when I moved out etc n luckily they were able to catch them.
I was advised after to contact the credit reference agencies to check everything n found I had "others" associated with myself whom i had no knowledge of. All I had to do was write to the credit agencies, informing them n they were then removed from being associated with me. (I had moved around alot) Im not sure if this would apply to you but its worth a try. Good Luck x

Hi
Was your ex bankrupt in the last six years ? If so this is probabaly the reason for the refused credit. The banks will see a finanacial link due to the joint mortgage.
You can write to the three agencies and place a notice of disassociation with your ex partner and hopefully this will make your credit applications easier.
Regards

Your welcome Andym - hope it all gets sorted.

Just to add as Im a monkey for keeping everything to do with bills - this enabled me to give solid proof that I had moved out of the address n moved elsewhere.N Therefore the credit/debt was not taken out by myself. Next were brilliant n when the person pretended to me after they contacted them regarding the account - they "got" them, as Next phoned me to see if "I" had phoned.
It might be a hassle but get a good file system up n keep important things like council tax bills - could just save you alot of hassle one day when you just might need them.
