I pay £1200 per month to GT. Due to temporary change in job I'm taking home £92 per month less. I have just phoned and asked for a reduction in payments (£92) until sept. Been turned down! Really cross as I'm paying £200 per month more than agreed by court for last 6 months. Have been told that I need to apply for a variation (for three months!!!) or make up the payments in sept. Just cried down the phone at the lady in the oh! so helpful customer service. How can this be right. We're 4 years in and up to date with payment. Our dividen to higher than expected but GT totally unflexiable. Any advice????

I'm really surprised at this. Who did you talk to at GT?

I spoke to a girl in the customer service department (didn't get her name). The problem I had was she wouldn't/couldn't offer any flexiability. I do think the service you get is dependant on who answers the phone!

I think that there must be some mistake here, as there would appear to be sufficient flexibility in your current payments to accomdate the reduction.

I have send a copy of the link to the Client Services Manager at GT to look into. If you could send me your name via my e-mail address on my website, it will help her to locate you and hopefully sort this out.

If you are already paying more than the original amount it is easy to reduce that payment without needing a variation. Ring back and ask to speak to someone more senior.

Thank you for this post. I am currently paying £537 more than the agreement (I'm in month 36). I've been concerned about the interest rates going up as I have a tracker interest only mortgage. (I'm also with GT). Seems the advice here is clear and that the payment can be reduced if costs increase..

I always email them on IVACustomerServices@gtuk.com to make sure that I have everything in writing from them, however looks like Mel has sorted you out.

Hopefully the email addy might help a few GT people.

I dealt with Victoria Taylor in the Belfast Office and she was always very helpful. Hope you get it sorted soon.
