Professional Status Unaffected ???

I am getting worried as when I took out my IVA 07/2009 my company I was working for L&G as a Financial Consultant was happy with this. unfortunately I was made redundant in Dec 2009 and since them have been looking for work, all the major banks will not employ me due to this IVA I am currently on a IVA break just paying £50.00 compared to £360.00. which is coming to and end So I need a JOB ASAP.

Can anyone help as an IVA does affect Professional Status. If I had know this I would have never have taken this route.

Hi Russell,

Most finance institutes will ask potential employees if they have entered an agreement with creditors(normal practice) ..or words to that affect.

Did you discuss your employment with your IP?

One of my clients has recently taken the FSA to Court and won on grounds of their prejudice about people in IVAs and their employability. Happy to provide you with details of this if it would help.

Wow thats a milestone of an achievement against the FSA Mel.Not before time either! Could it possibly open the floodgates for more claims?

Glad they got a result - it's about time it was recognised that we have done something positive about our debts. It shouldn't matter when we go for a job, we should get it on merit, not whether or not we have an excellent credit rating,

Precisely Jan

I think people with less than perfect credit scores are treated at times like second class citizens and to be turned away from a job that you are more than qualified for because of an IVA is ridiculous. How many banks have just been bailed out of financial difficulty by the Government ie tax payers are the banks unemployable?

I think the judgement purely relates to the FSA and not other employments, but clearly it should set an important precedent.
