Hi

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if your allowed a savings account when you are BR?

We had one before we went BR (not that there was anything substantial in it!) but it was closed down after we went to court, so really wanted to open another to put allowance money in.

Also, we have just started to pay an IPA, will we have to do a yearly I&E for this? We will be discharged in October this year, after this date will all the restrictions of BR be lifted or do some remain?

Thanks for your help

Yes, you are allowed a savings account when you're bankrupt, although some banks don't allow you to open one for some strange reason. It's worth trying Nationwide or Santander - they both allowed me to open savings accounts when I was BR.

I haven't had to do a yearly I & E during my IPA. The only new I & E I did was when I moved house and when my salary changed.

Providing you don't get a BRU/O you will no longer be subject to the restrictions of BR once you are discharged.

It's good to hear from you, and I hope things are going well x

I can't believe you've only got 2 to go Skip, the time seems to have flown by, although of course you may feel differently.

Bet you can't wait?

Regards.

It's flown past up until now, the last few months seem to be dragging!

I was planning what I was going to spend my first month's extra money on and then I realised the car needs to be serviced and MOT'd that month...

Isn't that always the way eh?

Never mind, you have done brilliantly and the month after that will be marvellous for you I'm sure.

Regards.

Thanks Skippy. So far (touch wood) things seem to be running smoothly, just hoping they stay that way for the next 36 months!!!
