hello i got sent a new thinkbanking card last week and registered the card straight away, now my question is why won't any of the cash machines let me take out any money when i have wages to come out? i have tried two cash points already and nothing is happening.

Hi Matthew and welcome to the forum, I'm not sure why this is but hopefully one of our posters can help.

Is there a telephone number you can call?

there is a number that i can call but i need to take my wages out tomorrow afternoon because i'm working in the morning driving, and the call centre usually shuts at midday so i'm in a bit of a predicament.

Hi
I have only just opened a new account with Think Banking and the Card they sent me is a Mastercard Debit Card (which i think they said is their new card).

I haven't tried to withdraw money today but haven't had any problem over the last 2 weeks. I do know when I phoned to activate the card they told me that it wouldn't work in some cash machines - from memory it was all Co-op machines and also I think they said to avoid the ones that charge. I have withdrawn money from Llyods, Natwest & RBS machines with no problems.

The only other issue I am aware of with the card is that you can't get a balance from a cashpoint if you try it says your card issuer has refused this request and rejects your card - this doesn't mean you can't withdraw money.

Also the machines will tell you that your card issuer may charge you for your transaction - don't worry they won't its just the machines don't recognise that it is a Mastercard DEBIT not CREDIT card.

To obtain a balance you need to text bal to 81122 or check online.

Hope this helps
Tuls

Maybe a computer glitch.

Tully, did you try the Co-op? They don't charge for their account, whereas with Thinkbanking you do.

Also, although Think don't charge you for a text balance, your mobile company may charge you for requesting it.

I had considered Co-op & Nationwide accounts before opening the thinkbanking account however sad as it sounds I opted for the Thinnk account because it keeps my bill money & my spending money seperate - over time I hope to improve my own money management but at the moment any help i can get the better.
As for the txt - they have given me a number that I can use from my contract mobile so it comes off my monthly allowance at no extra charge but I'm not sure I can publish it I think you have to speak to your account manager about it as it is specific to your account.
Do you know if the co-op allow you to open accounts if you are already in an IVA - I was thinking if I improve money management next year might like to go to a free account.
Thanks

Co-op are very IVA friendly.

You could open a Cashminder account now. It's free and you could use it to put any savings across if you manage to save any from your monthly allowance.

Co-op are really good (so long as you don't mind few branches). Me and my partner both bank with Co-op and had no problems.
