Hi. Just wondering what the situation would be with our iva payments. My husband was taken into hosp last week and had to have emergency surgery.Thankfully op went ok. Looks like he may be off work for at least eight weeks maybe longer. His employer only pays full wages for a month after that it would be state sick pay. He may be able to use some of his holiday entitlement to keep his income at the same level for a couple of weeks. Just worried about the iva payments as if he does end up just on sick pay we won't be able to meet them.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear your hubby was taken into hospital but glad to hear the surgery went ok, hope he continues to improve.

I would definitely speak with your IP Monday morning and I'm sure they'll be sympathetic and sort something out for you.

As you say the first month he'll get paid full wages so the payment will be there it should only be one month you'll miss and if hubby is well enough to go back to work after this I'm sure the deficit can be made up either by tagging a month on the end of the IVA or paying a set amount to chip away at the arrears of the months payment.

Ask for a payment break of a couple of months. Just make sure you keep your IP informed and that way you can concentrate on running around after hubby and getting him better!!!

Paul(a hubby who likes to be ran around after!!!)

When he gets to the point of stat sick pay, make a claim for employment support allowance as well - this may help

Sorry to hear hubby has been ill, and fingers crossed for a full recovery.

Speak to your IP about your situation. A payment break might be a solution for you.
