Hi I am at the early stage of reading up on IVA's and would really like to have a face to face meeting with an IP but the 2 IP firms i have rang to arrange this - neither have got back to me. I can travel easily to Birmingham or Worcester and wonder if anyone can recommend a good IP around those areas

Hi ajtt, welcome to the forum. I know Melanie Giles although situated in Wales does travel sometimes, why not give her a try, she can be contacted via the experts link.
Also take a look at
www.iva.com for a list of companies and some reviews. Always take the advice of 2 or 3 IP's before making a decision.

Well I do have an office in Birmingham, and intend to be in town on 15 February if that is any good. Alternatively there are several firms in Birmingham that you could ring to try.

Really does back up why you are so popular on here Mel. You are so much more approachable than most IP's.
And as for the amount of time you spend on here answering posts, well it really is staggering to be honest!!

Quite agree Paul.
I have met Mel twice now, and she's not my IP! I doubt I will ever see mine!

Thanks Paul! I'll do my best to help anyone if I can - my time is my own and if I can offer a little of it to worried people then why not! All of my team share the same ethos as well - which will probably mean we will never be up there with the big volume processors in terms of numbers, but I think that will suit me in the long run!

It's a personal service though Melanie and that goes a long way in customer care believe me, I know first hand.

I think the service you offer is excellent Mel, both for your own clients and for other posters on here.

Hi we are looking at doing an IVA, I really dont no what to expect from it? What if one of us lost our job whilst on the plan? We pay out a little under £1600 a month to creditors how much could we possibly be looking at paying if on an IVA.[:)]

Hi thanks for that.Ok so at the moment we pay creditors £1600 a month, our utility bills and mortgage £1500 a month. We earn £3900 a month leaving £853.38 a month shopping and petrol. So 100% would be from whats left now or add the creditors money onto that. confused.

Hi Tammy
The best thing to do is to call up an insolvency practitioner and have them run through your income and expenditure figures with you. In this way you will be able to list everything down that you spend on a regular basis, provide some extra money for contingencies and irregular items, and come up with an affordable figure to offer to your creditors.
An IVA may be just one option available to you, but the IP will be able to discuss all debt solutions with you to ensure you make the right choices for now and the future.

Thanks for the kind words Mel.
Tammy, give one or two companies a ring and make sure you are happy with the one you choose.
If you're not sure of anything you can come on here anytime and ask away. Someone is usually around to help.
