Hi Albatross and welcome to the Forum.
I assume you are in the process of setting up an IVA. If so explain to your IP company about the transactions and it should be fine. There is a difference between someone who gambles themselves into trouble and has a serious problem and someone who tries to gamble their way out of trouble. If you are the latter your IP firm should understand but they may ask you to cancel the memberships of the betting/gambling sites.

Hi
They may also want to see a clear month with no gambling before proceeding. Talk to your IP and explain that this is all behind you

Hello Albatross - It will be essential to provide clean Bank and Credit Card Statements (that means free of visits to gambling websites and/or betting accounts via telephone too!) to your IP before they will present your case to creditors that's assuming that you are going for an IVA. You will also need to close all of your existing betting accounts to satisfy your IP that you don't gamble anymore and this can be done by e-mailing all of your betting accounts and ask for them to be closed permanently which they will do quite readily - I had 20 accounts and I felt better for closing them all! Don't feel ashamed by it as help is on hand anytime via this forum and you CAN beat the gambling bug to restore a little order to your finances as well as your own self esteem.

Hi Albatross2, welcome to the forum. I can understand why you are worried but it is always best to be open and upfront with whoever is representing you, that way the best and most solid solution can be put in place for you. Any good representative will listen to you and work with you to move things forward properly. It would not be wise to carry on struggling as you may be paying out more than you can afford again and end up repeating the cycle. As Pelder says, there is always help here, just about any time of the day or night!
Regards,

Hi Albatross,
my hubby had spent quite a bit of money on credit cards, taken out without my knowledge. He told me about it this time last year. He closed all accounts - and registered so that they would not let him open one for the next two years and went cold turkey to prove to me - and himself it could be done. He also contacted gamblers anon. We contacted cleardebt in May who checked that it had stopped, what steps he'd taken etc to make sure he stayed stops. Honesty is very important and you'd need to include some details in your summary of how you find yourself in this situation now (personal statement) for your IP so they will know anyway. Why wait another 3 months?? Get things sorted now whilst your head is in a positive frame of mind. Good luck.

I have dealt with lots of clients, who out of despair and desperation have reverted to gambling in an attempt to win their way out of debt problems, and as we probably know the only winners in gambline in real time are the bookies and casino operators.
And in all my time I have only had one client who could not give up the habit and reverted back - hence the IVA failed. I tend to find that once you remove the catalyst which causes the problem, this generally solves the problem at the same time.
