Hello, I am a new southener poster (but not a new viewer), I cant tell you how much this forum has helped me ie mentally knowing I am not the only one in the situation and also just general advice -0 thanks [:)]

I was approved for an IVA 2 months ago.

I wondered if you could help me, I have just received quite alot of backdated child allowance that was due to me (long story, lost papers 3 times /delays etc, What I would like to know do I declare this. This amount was included in my income received when we did the table of expenditure ie £20.00 per week but obviously I never had it at the time and from now will be just getting it weekly.

Shall I call my IVA advisors or just leave it.

Many thanks

Hi IOW and welcom to the forum, hope you are having a good Christmas.

You do need to let your IP know about this. It maybe that you get to keep some. It will depend on what it says in your proposal.

I deleted the other topic as it was a duplicate - just in case you wondered where it was!

Hi thanks for all your replies. I did try and post to say thank you the other day but my computer froze.

I have some good news anyway, I spoke to my wonderful IVA provider (they are such a good company) and I can keep all the money. Basically as its not a windfall and it was included in my incomings and taken in to account then as having received it I will be ok. If it was say compensation award or a bonus I would have had to give some back.

As you can imagine I am totally relieved to have some money to fall back on. So glad i posted and you advised me to check it out as it would always have been in the back of my mind.

Thanks for your advice and Happy New Year.
