I have just been told I'm going to get a Christmas bonus. I know that this should be declared and half sent towards the IVA
I obviously could really do with keeping all this money!!! How would they know what bonus I got? Could i declare less?
Thanks

hey lolly-you could declare less hun but this of course will be picked up on your p60 when your review comes up-not worth the stress-best to declare it

Hi,
I second what the others have said - not worth lying as you will get caught in the end. An IVA is all about trust and it works both ways.

Thats what i thought! I'm only just into my IVA bu a few months so wasn't sure what happened on your reviews etc - thought if they only looked at a few months wage slips and bank statements it would be easy to hide!!!
Deep down I knew there would be a way they checked!!!
And of course I'm chuffed as you say its more money than I had last week but its sad to see that other bit of money go at Christmas time when i could really use!!
Still smiling though!!!

Hi,
But remember this with the IVA you are getting a massive second chance to get your life back, ok it takes 5 years but at the end you can have the satisfaction knowing that you have paid at least something back to your creditors - after all we borrowed and spent it and your budgeting skills will be second to none.

I totally agree - any other time of year I wouldn't mind sharing it with the creditors one bit - like you say after all I have already spent their money!!!
Its just so sad to see that money going to my creditors at xmas time when I could spend it better presents for everyone and there is a gas bill I need to pay too!!!
The main reason of my post was to find out how the IVA providers found out about the bonus!!!
thanks all

again hun when you have a review i think your wage slips will show the bonus but even if it doesnt to compare it against your p60 will show any extra-at least i think so-got my review now so thats how im seeing it

Hi Lollyollie,
I would just like to say I am not having a pop at you.
And I understand you would like to keep all the money but your Family will be happy with whatever presents you buy them - after all it is the thought that counts.
With regards to your Gas Bill you could have a word with your IP and see what they say

It is a very easy thing to check up on, and at the end of the day you have to make an honest declaration at the end of each year that you have not received any additional monies - so even if the IP could not check this out from your wage-slips would you really be prepared to lie to them?
