Hello all
We've had our IVA now Since May 2008 and recently had a bit of a rocky road, but our IVA have been very good with us and sympathetic. The question I would like to ask is that we keep receiving letters from the IVA Watchdog telling us they have the task to ensure that we have received the correct solution for our circumstances. 'Test cases are currently being prepared, and if successful, claimants such as ourselves may be entitled to compensation'. They also state in their letter that if we call their action line they will assess our situation free of charge and if successful we will be given options on how to go forward.
Is this letter a standard letter that goes out to all who have an IVA? Has anyone else received one of these and followed it up?
I hope someone can answer my question.

Hi Trickles
There has been alot of talk recently about the IVA Watchdog. This is an orgaqnisation that preys on vulnerable people using underhand tactics to make you think that an IVA is not right for you and that they will provide you with the most appropriate solution. The truth is they will help you to become bankrupt and charge an extraordinary high fee for it.
Unfortunately, these organisations do pop up quite alot and we do urge everyone in an IVA to ignore there letters. Best thing to do is send them to you supervisor or speak to size5 (a forum expert who is monitoring the activates of this company).

In case you are wondering, they get your details from the Insolvency register.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Bin it! They (like other companies before them) trawl the insolvency register and mail shot people in IVAs trying to convince them that they have been missold their IVA.

I have no doubt that their advice to you will be that you would be better off going BR, and if you pay them a hefty sum of money they will 'assist' you through the process.

There are a number of threads concerning this company and my advice is to throw any letters from them in the bin or forward them to your IP.

These people search the IVA register and try and convince people to go bankrupt and that the IVA was 'missold'. They charge a whacking great fee for completing the bankruptcy papers and leave you to the consequences. If your IVA is going well let it run it's course but if not speak to your IP who can help. If you do decide to go bankrupt you do not need any outfit like this to fill out paperwork.

Yes it does thank you. I will forward copies to my supervisor as suggested.
How do I contact 'size 5'?

You can contact me via the details in the experts section on the left.

If you are able to scan and e mail me any letters from these types of organisations I would be most grateful, if not then I can give you a fax number if that is easier.

Regards.

most of these seem to name drop the ministry of justice.
I spoke to them about a call we had and im sure they would like to know of underhand tactics.

I've had yet another letter from these jokers today, despite having written to them in the past telling them to go away and stop bothering me!

IVA Watchdog make no mention of Ministry of Justice at all.

Hi Tricles,

The above link shows that this company has nothing to do with the government and the Insolvency Service has completely disassociated themselves from them.

*Michael - I've removed the link as for some reason the site censor has been at work and blanked out part of the address, so it doesn't lead anywhere!*

You have me a little worried now as I have 2 e mail addresses at work, however I have just tested from one to another and the e mail address on the experts section is working fine. You can ring me if it is easier.

Regards.
