Hi everyone,
My husband and I have been in our IVA for 3 years.
On Friday, I had an awful car crash in which my 3 children and I were injured and it looks as if I've written off my car.
I'm a theatre nurse and I work on call at weekends and overnight so I really do need a car. I work in the NHS and we regularly receive information about a car lease system for NHS staff with a permanent contract.
Does anyone have any idea if this would be an option to me whilst in my IVA?
I'm unable to drive for a while due to my injuries (and the sheer terror associated with getting into a car) but I'm just looking at some ideas at the moment.
Thanks in advance,
xx

Ricki firstly let me say how sorry I am to hear of what happened on Friday to you and your children. I sincerely wish you and your children a speedy recovery.

I know some in an IVA do lease a car and duncton is often praised on here. I would certainly talk to your IP without delay to get an idea of what can be done.

Sorry to hear of your accident and hope you are all ok.

I agree that you should look at Duncton. They have an excellent reputation on here with posters.

Thank goodness that you are all safe - and I can understand your fear at driving again. But do try, because your family rely on your income.

I am sure that the NHS car lease scheme will be an option for you, but don't forget to get your IP's permission first.

Hi, Ricki.
I work in the public sector and lease a car through my employer's scheme. It is similar to the NHS's scheme and I had no problem with my IP, Payplan, approving this. It can give you peace of mind over car expenditure as there are usually no surprise costs to pay out for unexpected repairs and maintenance. Our scheme also includes a replacement car for breakdowns and accidents which has proved to be very useful.
