Hi all,

We're off to court tomorrow for the BR hearing!!!! Feeling quite nervous now but glad its going to come to an end. Anyway, I've just phoned Natwest who we have our current account with to check what is going to happen with the account when they hear about the BR. They have said that when the OR contacts them they will freeze the account and it won't become un-frozen until the OR contacts them . I am concerned as this is our account that our wages and bills go in and out of, does anyone have any idea how long the OR will take to get in contact with the bank to tell them to un-freeze" the account?

You should have an initial phone call tomorrow with the OR. You need to speak to them to tell them you need the account unfreezing.

You might like to try and open a Co-op account in the meantime - they are very BR friendly.

If you have any money in the Natwest account and you need it to pay bills, then I would withdraw it before the court hearing.

Good luck for tomorrow.

thanks for replying Jan.
Would it not look "dodgy" me taking all my money out the account before I go BR?

If you can prove that you need it to pay your bills and won't be able to do so if the account is frozen I don't think so. Make sure you tell the OR what you have done so it is all above board.

You still have to live.

We did it!!!!!

We were made BR at 11.46 today and it wasn't as scarey as it sounds. I can't begin to explain how I feel. I'm sooooooooooo happy and really feel the weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

We were told to be at the court by 9.30, we arrived at 8.45 and there was already 6 people in front of us! Anyway we got called up to the counter one by one to pay for the BR and to go through the form with the lady behind the counter to see if they were filled in right...which ours were. Then we had to go downstairs to the usher and hand our paperwork over to be looked at by the judge and wait to be called into see him. When we were called we went into his room which was exactly how I imagined a judges room to be (really big hefty dark wood furniture with walls covered head to toe with huge law books) Anyway we sat down and he was really nice, he went through our forms and asked a few standard questions (i did feel like a naughty school girl in front of the headmaster) Then he said he has placed a BR order against us, wished us luck and sent us off, we were only in there about 10 mins. After that we had to have a chat with OR who will be in contact with us in a couple of weeks to do an interview.

I can't believe its all done and how nice everbody was. And how many people were going BR. There was 15 of us in the end!!!! We were all chatting together as we were waiting for our turn, which made you feel better as everyone was supporting each other.

I don't think its totally sunk in yet that we are debt free now (although we will prob have an IPA or IPO). I think tonight I will have the best nights sleep I've had in months.

Yay its all over!!!!!!

Well done Kazza and I am pleased to read it wasn't as bad as you first thought it was going to be, this is encouraging for others considering Bankruptcy.

I can imagine the relief you're feeling, you're well on your way now to debt freedom.x
