Hi can anyone give me any advice on payplan? I was wondering whether to go down the DMP route and they sounded quite good. I was wondering if they would be any good for my partner as well as he is self employed.

Hi Julie,
I have used Payplan for the last year for a DMP and they have been really good. Sometimes you get a duff person on the phone but you can email your Case Manager directly or speak to them on the phone if neccessary.

Thanks Martyn I am a bit worried about the interest not being frozen. which is making think about the IVA route, I am expecting a phone call tomorrow to discuss all this but feel better if I could make my mind up.

The one good thing they do as well is run a thing called Justabank and you can monitor your IVA or DMP online to see how it is doing.

That sounds good. Does anyone know what happens about joint overdraft arrears that need to be take into account. Me and my worse half are both having to get either DMP or IVA and not sure what will happen about the overdraft.

You are both liable for any joint debts, including overdrafts.

I understand that but how do they work out who should include what on their debts is it half each. My parents are helping me out so I wasnt sure if it would be better for me to take on the overdraft especially as he owes more than me.

you cant take on anything youself if it is in joint names,i would advise try a few companys before making your mind up it is important to make the right decission for your debts,a iva is set in stone with no interest, good luck.

We just had one payment per month for our DMP so all debts were entered once on the forms.
If you are thinking of using Payplan then give them a call and seek advice as to how to fill the forms in.

Hi Jan
Being a bit dim do you have a joint DMP then?

We had a DMP for 18 months - just one payment going out per month.
Now we have the IVA and they are seperate with two payments going out, but the joint debts are included on both.

Thanks. Really getting confused now. I will wait and see what they say tomorrow when Tina calls. I am not worried about mine now as my parents are helping but I'm not sure about partners as he is self employed and wages can't be pinned down to a set amount.

at the end of the day julie, you need a arrangement that is sustainable, and has a end point within a reasonable timescale of 5 or 6 years.you need to look carefully at all your options.help from relatives can help you conclude a iva early through a f&f offer halfway through a iva.dont rush take your time.
