After what seemed to be a never ending struggle I have today purchased my car from the lease company with help from my mum the relief is fantastic as I like a lot of people can not work with out a car. So my little blue car is mine well technically mums.

You sound well pleased Jan. I am 42 and just started to learn to drive after a lot of nagging from the other half. I am looking forward to having my own car some day when I am not a danger to other road users and I wish you all the best of luck with your 'little blue car'. Has she got a name?

I'm glad you've finally sorted the car out Jan.
Good luck with the lessons Michael! Dave would probably say that even though I've been driving 17 years I'm still a danger on the roads!

Well done Jan, glad you've got our own little motor at last.
Michael - good luck with the driving lessons.
Skippy - my hubby would say that my driving is terrible as well! I hate it when he is a passenger!

Well done Michael for taking the plunge so to speak I persuaded my brother to learn when he was 40 as I was fed up collecting him from the station very late at night, he is a journalist, but the deal was I studied for a degree we both kept our promise so you are never too old, I learnt to drive at 17 many many years ago and passed first time, although things were simpler then no parallel parking and no theory test, we did have to take a test though unlike my grandfather who started to drive before driving tests and that was scary going out with him.
Good luck with the driving Michael, my husband taught me drive and he always said to me keep death of the path, I am still a lousy parker.

I excelled myself tonight - I tried to parallel park opposite our house, narrowly missed a tree, got wedged into the space and had to get Dave to come out and put it right!

I am so bad at parking I look for 'in and outers' in car parks, spaces where you can drive in and out forward if you know what I mean. Why are men generally so much better at parking? I do know there are some great lady parkers but me I am hopless.

I am nowhere near as good as I used to be, used to know how far I had left to the nearest inch. Now I get out of the car and see I am 10 foot away.

I always try and reverse into a space if I can but I got it completely wrong first time and couldn't get out of it!
When I had my Corsa I could park it anywhere, but the Fiesta seems to have bigger blind spots - well that's my excuse!
