Ihave been advised by cab that a debt relief order was the best option open to myself and my partner. My interview was backin Febuary 09, he advised me tha the DRO process did not come into effect until April 09,so he advised me and my partner not to pay any creditors, which we havent for 6 months. I have made numerous phone calls to hime since April and all he has advised me was to offer £1 a month to all creditors, and the DRO will take a couple of weeks 12 weeks up untill this point. Im totally left in the dark with all this as im not atall financially savvy i belive that he is trying to fob me off. Any help PLEASE.

You need to push things with him, or speak to someone else.

As long as your debts are less than £15000, you have no house, no disposable income above £50 once your normal bills have been paid and no assests over £300 then you are eligible for a DRO.

They have been in force since April, so insist that you are put forward for one if you fit the criteria.

He may just be busy with DRO's. Keep pressing him.

Hi
Try a different provider,I think Baines an Ernst are authorised to arrange DROs

Shame to see that sort of feedback about the CAB - but I can only assume that they are absolutely inundated with debt problems at the moment.

Bains and Ernst are a commercial organisation, and may be more motivated to process your application on a timely basis. You could also try CCCS or Payplan.

DRO stands for Debt Relief Order, a new sort of mini bankruptcy for debts less than £15000 introduced in England and Wales in April of this year.
