Hi All .... Struggling with debt and considering all options. I work in a job where I get a basic salary plus unsocial hours payments for weekends , bank holidays and night shifts. Also my pension contributions are deducted before tax. My question is should I only include my basic pay in any Income and Expenditure forms as the extra is not guaranteed although I do tend to work weekends to cut down on childcare costs and to earn the extra money.??? I don't want to be accused of fraud or somesuch!!!
Hope this makes sense

Hi,
I get a basic pay, plus shift allowance, plus callout and time and a half for a Saturday. All of this was included in my income, even though it does vary sometimes.
Bank Holidays are separate for me, and even though I would be able to keep the money (as it is less than 10% of my monthly pay) I choose to take it as time off.
You shouldn't have a problem with the pension - I have been allowed to keep mine going as it is deducted at source.

The IVA can only be based on what is affordable and sustainable. If you are currently doing shifts to stay on top of the debts this is clearly not going to work for five years.
The IVA needs to be viable on your guaranteed earnings and would be based on that. Any earnings over that would be treated as overtime.

I wonder why they took all mine into account then? They can stop me working shifts at anytime (with three months notice) and then I would be on basic pay and down about £400 a month.
I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that they don't!

I'm the same Jan, My IP took my 'flexibility' payment, which is like a shift allowance and my meal allowance into account as basic pay. She based that figure on the average of the last 3 months pay. I lose the shift allowance if I'm off sick, so here's hoping I'm well for next 5 years, or I will be down £80 a month!

My shift allowance does stay if I'm off sick (good job as I've just been off for four months!) and it is over £300 a month so if they took that off me I'd be stuffed and looking for a second job!

How can shift allowance be included as this obviously would go if you cease to do shift work? come off shift IVA fails or variation required? can't be right.

Well mine was!
It has been part of my income since 1993 and I don't envisage it changing anytime soon.
I can retire in 4 1/2 years time so it only has to last until then!

If the shift allowances and overtime are guaranteed, then they can be included as part of your income, but you have to be pretty certain of this not to put the IVA payments into jeopardy.
