Hi this is my first post on this forum although I have been viewing seen I found it after my IVA was approved in March. It is good to know I am not alone. My story is similar to many people, my debts have crept up over the years mainly due to raising a family on low incomes. I managed to judgle them around and buried my head in the sand until one of my directs debits was returned and I knew I had to do something. The worst thing was telling my husband the extent of my debts as he left me to manage the finances. It was a differcult time but we got through and it has made our relationship stronger because we do not have any secrets anymore. My IVA was agreed in March with payplan. They have been very understanding. The only Credtior I am still recieving correspondence from is MBNA. Tthe still keep sending me arrears and default notices. Payplan have said not to worry and send to them. Do other people still receive these?

Hi Country girl.

Don't worry about these letters, some people do still get them, and phone calls, long after the IVA has been approved.

They cannot charge you interest once you have been approved, so they won't be able to claim it. The defaults you needn't worry about as once your IVA is over you can ask them to remove them from your record.

Just send them to Payplan and forget about them.

Hi Kallis3, you have set my mind at rest. At least I no longer receive the phone calls.

They were the worst thing, I have to agree! Letters are just words on a page and you have time to deal with them.

Phone calls can be so upsetting.

Hi Countrygirl, really pleased you have managed to sort things. I was in the same situation. I had to tell my wife about our debts. I never want to go through that, but also agree that once the dust settled we are stronger as a couple.

As for MBNA, try to forget them, for me Barclays don't seem to have got the message but I just send the letters on to my IP.

Hope your IVA works out

Hi country girl - we've been getting them too, which has culminated into a final demand/threat of court action. Payplan are on the case - at the end of the day, your IVA is your protection, a bit like Batfink's wings of steel. They haven't got a leg to stand on, and are choosing to ignore the law.

Just keep sending everything to your case officer and they will handle it for you.

Thanks for all your kind coments.

Its really good to know other people have been though the same thing. When this all first happened although my immediate family where really good(nobody else knows).I did feel alone and so guilty.

MBNA were the worst for phoning etc, along with Barcalycard. The rest were not to bad. Have a good weekend.
