hello,
I'm into my 4th year of IVA.
Now my wife is having problems and I believe is going for debt management.
We have current and joint account at the sme bank.
My wife's adviser has advised that I should find a new current account with another bank as they may go after me for owed funds when she goes into her debt management scheme. Do you think this to be good advice and can the bank do this?

Regards

John

Hi
If you have a joint account and your wife has debts with that bank then yes you will need to change accounts as the bank may take money from your joint account for her debts.
Are you overdrawn on the joint account ?
If so you really shoiuld not be whilst in an IVA, you will need to try to clear that asap.

Thanks for reply.
We have no overdrawn facility on any account.
Would I still have to change my current account?

Hi
If you have a sole current account then no, if you have a joint current account and your wife has debts with that creditor and is going into a DMP then yes.
