Hi,
I am almost 1 year into an IVA.
It is highly likely that my company will soon take away my company car and replace with compensation of around £350.00 a month
I must have a reliable car in order to commute 20,000+ miles a year. Will I be able to lease a car while in an IVA, I will have proof of the extra money to lease the car, obviously I would need permission from IP.
Thank you for excellant forum in these worrying times

Dunctons do car leasing, also bell hire or something like that. As long as your payments into the iva are unaffected it will be fine.

Hi,

You can get a car on finance in an IVA, obviously with the IP's permission as you stated.

Try this company:

http://www.duncton.com/jsp/index.jsp

they are very amenable to people in IVA's and several of our posters on here use them.

With most car lease companies you will have to pay at least three months payments in advance. Will you have the funds together to do this?

Thank you all for your swift reply's.
In answer to Melanie's reply, I would not have the 3 months advance payment as it would be around £900 for the cheapest car group. I am hoping to explain to my company that I would rather carry on with a company car than take the allowence as I cannot get credit, but they may say 'that is your problem'!!

The company car is definately the best option for you - so do try and persuade your employers to continue with your scheme.

Hi Karen,
have looked up Bell on the internet, sounds good , you can do 2000 miles a month (most are a lot less)pay 1 month deposit plus 1 month upfront, they can include insurance, which is also a great relief because I would'nt get credit to pay monthly so would have to fork out around 300.00 for the year in one go.May I ask, is you're husband in an IVA?

That sounds a really good deal busybee.

Can I just mention though that monthly instalments for insurance is not classed as credit and is allowed in an IVA.

Sorry about using my jojo account but I'm actually kabby3 but for some reason could not log on. No he is not in IVA but quite honestly his credit is so bad he might as well be!! Stu was very up front and explained to Gemma straight away (think i may have said Kirstie) should was not phased and said worst case he might have to pay 2 months up front. We have a brand new car, which he picked up on the 6th December from Surbition. He actually insures it himself and has agreeded a 12 month hire period with 2000 per month mileage. You have to take a bit of pot luck on colour and spec but we got lucky and had silver metallic and black leather!! It is really nice. I like the new fiesta on there, very tempted but have to complete my IVA before I contemplate even thinking about cars right now !!! Good luck. Dont be worried business is business. Kirstie is very helpful and will be honest as to what she can do! xx Good luck Karen xx
